Leaside Project Summary
Click on the "English Garden" on the right to view a "Slide Show"
of a project through it's steps of progression. Here is a breakdown of what you will see.
This Leaside property was basically a bed of weeds. The clients, bewildered and frustrated with the existing
growing conditions; poor soil and dry shade, the worst, had allowed the yard to go. They had always dreamed of
an "English Garden" but with two dogs in tow, who loved to tear up the lawn and garden, they didn't see how
this could be possible.
It was obvious the dogs could not have free rein of the yard so a division was created. Closest to the house
a patio surrounded by raised garden beds was closed off with a custom cedar gate. This allows our clients to
enjoy their dogs in the patio area without having to worry about them getting into the garden.
The main garden lay beyond the gates. A winding gravel pathway was installed replacing the lawn. Along the
walk is a pond, a custom cedar pergola / bench area and a decorative shed all strategically placed to help
reduce the look of the long and narrow yard.
The installation of irrigation and the appropriate choice of plant materials have successfully
transformed this once barren space into an interesting and lush "English Garden" with the bonus of happy dogs!
